Emergency Management
Disaster can occur at anytime, many times it is from natural causes, other
times the disaster is manmade. It
is the policy of this office to work with all area agencies and organizations to
facilitate and manage, if necessary, any and all operations that are required
during such periods. The goal is to
provide leadership, planning, and education resources to protect lives, property
and the environment in the event a disaster was to strike Mercer County.
One of our primary goals is to ensure training and information is available
to both first responders and the community.
The Sheriff’s Office strongly supports the training program known as
Community Emergency Response Team or CERT.
This program teaches residents how to care for themselves, their
families, their home, their neighbors and the community if a large-scale
incident should occur and first responders are not available.
CERT training programs have been extremely successful around the country
and we are sure it will be a success in Mercer County.
